89. Eggs/Tortillas/Cheese/Salsa

I just cannot get enough of those ingredients together. I am in love with all of them as separate entities but together they are unstoppable!

I don't have a lot to say except mmmm I could eat Mexican egg burritos any time of day.

88. My iPhone

I am a late, and somewhat skeptically so, to the party. But I bit the bullet, and in the words of the highly persuasive Verizon salesperson, I drank the Kool-Aid.

I got an iPhone.

Ever since iPhones, Blackberrys and Droids became somewhat mainstream during college, I resisted. I didn't NEED to be able to access the Internet constantly. After all, I was already usually on my laptop doing schoolwork and spent an embarrassingly large amount of my free time browsing food blogs, drooling over J.Crew and sadly, on Facebook*. I thought it was sad that our generation was always glued to a screen -- laptops, TVs** and now smartphones!

But sometime over my final semester I realized that I couldn't avoid it for much longer. I became jealous of Angry Birds! And Words with Friends! And being able to look up any piece of information I wanted on the world wide web, no computer necessary! And my old skool slider phone had a little too much fun at Pig Roast and was now held together with a piece of scotch tape. So I for my graduation present I asked my parents for an iPhone. Well, I actually asked for a Blackberry, but that Verizon salesman was very, very persuasive.

So now I have a lovely iPhone and I'm tweeting with the greatest of ease! And I can text people pictures - and receive them! I sometimes read food blogs on my phone and sadly, check my e-mail constantly. But it's not like I get anything important, anyway. Mostly I just love how cool the white iPhone looks in my hand. That's no joke, I really do see the iPhone like an accessory, artfully peeking out of my humongous purse.

The phone and I are still in the honeymoon stage, and I hope that eventually I'll stop playing with all the apps compulsively and join the rest of the world again. Well, the rest of the world who is all on their smartphones, too.

Who am I kidding, I love this phone! Too bad I can't take a picture of the phone with my phone though...

*Speaking of screens, I also got a Kindle this summer and I kind of love it. Not that it'll ever replace a real book or anything. Also I can't always have my face glued to a screen, ya know?

**While I almost never watched TV while at school, while at home I am a legit couch potato.

87. Getting Mail

Getting mail makes me happy. Very, very happy. But it is so rare to get mail these days! I mean, mail that is exciting, not your tuition bills or what not.

But today I got the J.Crew catalogue* in the mail! My mom said I scared her when I shrieked. Yes, I shrieked because I love love J.Crew and wish my life could be the catalogue (is that weird?) but I don't know if I would have gotten the same excitement from looking at their clothes on the website. Part of the excitement was getting it in the mail!

Oh jeez the number of times I would rush to the post office on campus and peer into my little window. Man, was I usually disappointed! But when I got something that was not an ad for something on campus -- which would just go straight into the trash -- that could really make a day!

I now realize that my 87th favorite thing is actually getting good mail. Because let's face it, a reminder for class registration, when you already got 5 e-mails about it, is nothing to write home about. **

*Example of how rare mail is -- the computer thinks catalogue is misspelled! Oy, technology!

**Sorry, I couldn't help it.

86. Rockin' out in the car

Don't worry, I always fully obey traffic laws as well as have a complete and thorough understanding of my surroundings.

But while obeying said traffic laws there is nothing more satisfying than rockin' out to the radio! I hope that people in neighboring cars don't notice while we're stopped at red lights, but whatever, I'm fine with being that person. Although, I don't know what I look like while belting out along with the Glee soundtrack so maybe I should be embarrassed? Nahhh

Another fun favorite are car air instruments! Playing the seat belt guitar, the dashboard keyboard and the steering wheel drums ... please how can you resist a steering wheel drum solo??

No picture. I'm sure me in mid-solo in traffic is terrifying and would burn anyone's retinas.

85. Card Games

Boo-yah! That's what I said the other day, to absolutely no one, when, after weeks, nay months, I finally won my favorite solo card game, "the other version of solitaire." That's what I call it, because, well, it is the other version of solitaire and I can't get much more creative than that.

Unlike in normal solitaire, where you can win every tenth game or so, wins are much harder to achieve in this game. Why, I don't even know. But it's positively addicting and I play while I watch TV. Which is pretty much all the time since I don't have a job or anything productive to do with my time ya know.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why this picture is sideways. So this is the way my game of alternative solitaire looks if you just tilt your head.

I'm also pretty much obsessed with group card games. Speed, gin rummy (which I am beast at, nbd), and Shithead. Which a certain physics teacher apparently used to call Rat's Ass. Loser.

The sad part about all this is is when I shuffle I cannot make a bridge with the deck. What a sham of a life I lead.

84. Same but different

The same ... but different. It's such a simple concept. Everyone should really live their life by it. Mary Kate and Ashley do and they're a pretty awesome duo.

So next time you're hanging out with a friend, please make sure that you're both wearing sun glasses, but different sized frames, and you have to have the same style of purses but slightly different designs. Perfect, you're practically Olsen twins!!

83. Bargain Hunting

I'm back! It's been a LONG hiatus my friends but I am determined to finish this by summer's end ... *

I'll just put it out there. I love shopping. I love clothes. I am assuming that a lot of other girls out there feel this way but sometimes I start obsessively thinking about J.Crew and Gap and I start to feel out of breath and yeah that's not so normal is it?

But what do I love just as much as clothes shopping?? Bargain hunting. There is something so so satisfying about finding an awesome pair of shoes or a cardigan and thinking how much more expensive it used to be. And there truly is no reason to buy anything for full sale (minus at Forever 21 because the clothes there are already cheap and maybe designer jeans or something). Seriously. Stuff at the Gap and Banana Republic pretty much all get a price slashing at some point, and at both of those places you can fill out that quick little survey (link on the receipt) which gives you x-amount off of a full-priced item. I won't buy something just because I have a discount, but if you really really need a new pair of dress pants (something which won't necessarily get discounted) you have a nice little discount! Also, Banana has that oh so lovely student discount -- hello Richmond ID that never expires!

Methinks I need to find some sort of afternoon activity that does not involve driving out to the mall. Sure I need a new pair of pumps but I just know it'll turn into hitting up the sales racks of all my favorite stores as per usual. Oy.

*HAHAHAHA as if those same words have not been uttered before.

82. Stupid Funny Movies

A few weeks ago, my friends Sarah, Kelly and I FINALLY made it to the Byrd, a historic one-screen movie theater here in Richmond.

It's really beautiful inside and ornately decorated. You kind of feel like you're in an opera house or something.

And we saw Due Date. SO STUPID. But so good!! (Although, honestly could there have been more car accidents?? I was kind of over that by the end, not gonna lie.)

I can appreciate Oscar-worthy movies. Or at least I try to. But honestly, I just want to be entertained! And stupid funny movies certainly deliver that. Due Date actually may have been a bit too "smart" for this title, but don't get me wrong. I laughed. And it was stupid.

The main character had the same last name as me ... almost

Some other stupid movies that come to mind:

-'The House Bunny': I saw this over winter break and well it was certainly stupid. But I appreciated that. Also falls into the genre of 'Unrealistic College/High School' movie that I just cannot resist.

-'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle': Please. This is stupid at its finest. And White Castle isn't even that good! But I digress. Bonus: Ethnic eye candy! Hells yes.

Stupid funny movie Hall of Fame:
'Dumb and Dumber' and 'Wayne's World' (and its sequel) are all winners. The stupidity never gets old. "You had two gloves this whole time?" "Uh, yeah, we're in the Rockies!" - I am just as incredulous everytime (not really). "Esqueege me? Baking powder?" CLASSIC.

Let's throw another shrimp on the barbie!

Also these movies are great to watch hungover. Anytime, really. But while hungover is pretty much perfection.

81. Fun-Size Candy

The Scene: 9:00 pm on a Wednesday. The Collegian office.

The Mood: Frantic. "Where is he?" everyone is asking. "He hasn't shown up yet??"

Finally, our adviser arrives. And then he dumps the contents of his bag on the center table and everyone goes nuts!

Because every week without fail, he brings us Fun-Size candy!

Because it's small, you can eat a bunch of different types -- as the name implies, fun! Also you feel like you're taking in way fewer calories because it's not full size (however I hear that it's better to just eat a Snickers or whatever and not a bajillion small ones).

Fun-Size candy. A huge perk of working at the newspaper. Gotta have chocolate for those late nights!
